Highlights of Leh Ladakh:-

  • Nubra Valley: This picturesque valley lies between Kashmir and Tibet. Also called Moonland, in the winter months, the landscape of the Nubra Valley resembles that of the moon’s rugged terrain. While in summer, the valley is blooming with flowers. Originally, Nubra Valley was known as Ldumra, a “valley of flowers.” Shyok and Nubra rivers crisscross the wide Nubra valley. Known as the Orchard of Ladakh, you must cross Khardung La Pass to reach Nubra Valley. Khardung La is the highest motorable pass in the world.
  • Pangong Lake: This lake is situated at an elevation of 4350 meters, making it the world’s highest saltwater lake. The water of the lake is turquoise blue. This is a strong contrast to the arid and dry mountains surrounding the lake. The lake derives its name from the Tibetan word “Pangong Tso.” It means “high grassland lake.” The major attraction of Pangong Lake is that the lake’s water tends to change colour – the water has sometimes been seen as blue, red, and green.
  • Tso Moriri Lake: This is also known as “Mountain Lake.” It is located in the Changthang plateau region of Ladakh. The lake is situated at an altitude of 4522 meters. Tso Moriri is the largest cake among the lakes in high altitudes. The lake’s water is from springs or the result of snow melting from adjacent mountains. This is why Tso Moriri is filled with water during all year seasons. This brackish lake is set against the backdrop of snow-clad mountains. You can spend hours here sitting and appreciating the natural beauty. If you are in Leh Ladakh, you cannot miss visiting Tso Moriri Lake.
